JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY This person will report into the Solid State Chemistry Group within the Center for Analytical Research CAR. They will be primarily responsible for coordinating the day-to-day handling and documentation of controlled substances and other chemicals or reagents used by Pharmaceutical RandD personnel at the Webster Groves Company /SpecGx site. They will also be expected to spend approximately 20% of their time working in the lab, where they will receive training in the area of Solid State chemistry. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Tracks RandD controlled samples in and out of inventory * Enters transactions into a secure database * Performs Stability sampling from chambers as needed * Provides training on sample log out procedures * Gathers data from databases for various reporting requirements * Coordinates all controlled substance inventories * Analyzes inventory and coordinates with scientists for destruction of material * Updates SOPs as needed and works closely with internal Security and Controlled Substance Compliace groups * Manages and monitors satellite storage locations * Performs Solid State chemistry testing on pharmaceutical drug substances and drug products. * Assists regulatory groups with audits * Receives and ships chemicals for RandD Labs * On call for stability chamber issues * Manages chamber monitoring equipment * Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS: * Bachelors in science related field e.g. Chemistry, Chemical Technology required. * Knowledge of general lab procedures e.g. using lab balances, notebooks/logbooks and documentation is required. Prior experience working in a lab environment would be highly beneficial. * Familiarity with cGMP and DEA guidelines is preferred, prior experience tracking/monitoring chemicals, and knowledge of inventory systems would be highly beneficial. WORKING CONDITIONS: The laboratory facility is air conditioned and environmentally controlled. Employees are required to wear eye protection and lab coats.
