The Trait Integration Conversion Breeder is a critical role in the acceleration of new breakthrough traits from the world’s largest & most successful trait pipeline, together with the most diverse & elite germplasm globally across crops. In this role you will leverage and also help with the creation of advanced technology & automation, the world’s largest & fastest genotyping labs & game changing predictive information systems.

As a member of the Global Trait & Pipeline Delivery team you will gain superior on-the-job development to grow as a leader. You will be central in delivering trait packages in Monsanto elite germplasm for the advancement of Monsanto’s commercial product pipeline. Responsibilities:

  • Develop canola products using analytics and modeling, marker assisted selection and other breeding methodologies

  • Evaluate performance of converted inbreds and hybrids and make advancement decisions to support the commercial pipeline

  • Lead the development and implementation of new strategies that accelerate and improve success of product delivery

  • Innovate the trait conversion process and file invention disclosures as appropriate

  • Partner with members of our Biotechnology, Breeding and Commercial organizations serving as a key member of the technology development pipeline

  • Stay current on relevant technical advances

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Ph.D. in plant or animal breeding, agronomy, plant physiology, or a related field or MS degree and 5 years of experience

  • Strong background in breeding, quantitative genetics, statistics, and molecular technologies

  • Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and innovative

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong project management skills

Desired Skills / Experience:

  • Experience with canola research

  • Strong record of innovation and process improvement in breeding, trait integration, or trait development research

  • Strong understanding of database systems and management of large data sets
