Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: The Challen Lab is seeking a senior scientist to collaborate with the Principal Investigator on the design, conduct and reporting of research projects relating to the genetic and epigenetic regulation of hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) function, and the clonal evolution of blood cancers. The overall goal of the lab is to understand how epigenetic modifications interface with genetic mutations to drive the progression of pre-malignant HSCs into fulminant blood diseases such as MPN, MDS and AML. We are interested in understanding how these processes corrupt normal HSC function and facilitate the clonal expansion of pre-malignant HSCs as a precursor to blood cancer. The translational potential of this work is to develop specific interventions to target these early clones as a mechanism of blood cancer prevention. The successful candidate will have experience in mouse models, flow cytometry, molecular techniques and basic computational analysis.
