Overview

TheResearch Divisionof the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis seeks aSenior Economic Education Specialistto support FRED, GeoFRED, FREDcast, and EconLowdown by developing materials and programs that use data tools to provide economic education. The St. Louis Fed is a leading provider of economic education and information.



Responsibilities

This individual supports the Bank’s district-wide economic and financial education and information strategy by: * Conducting training regarding the use of FRED and GeoFRED for educators, college faculty, teachers-in-training, Federal Reserve staff, and media. * Developing, strengthening, and expanding relationships with college faculty. * Networking, strengthening, and expanding relationships with economics education organizations such as The College Board, the National Association of Economic Educators, and Centers forEconomic Education. * Developing online content that employs FRED and GeoFRED for use by teachers of grades 9-12 and college teaching faculty as well as general audiences. Examples include: o Articles for various types of publications o Lessons for the classroom o Scripts for videos * Working with publishers to incorporate St. Louis Fed economic information and education materials into instructor guides. * Assisting users of EconLowdown, FRED, GeoFRED, and FREDcast.

Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in economics, economic education or a related field or commensurate experience; Master’s degree in economic education or economics preferred. * 5-7 years of experience teaching economics at secondary or college-level * Experience training adults a plus * Experience writing curriculum and lessons a plus * Demonstrated ability to work with data, create graphs, spreadsheets, and charts, and analyze data. Experience with FRED and GeoFRED a plus. * Outstanding oral presentation skills. * Outstanding written communication skills. * Ability to communicate well with people at all levels inside and outside of the Fed. * Experience with technology including: tablets, social media, PowerPoint, Excel, podcasts, and SMARTboards among others.
