Monsanto Seed Production Intern or Co-op in ST. LOUIS, Missouri

We are seeking motivated Seed Production Interns or Co-ops. These positions will be located at a seed site in the US, and will report to the Site Lead.

Students will get hands-on experience at a North American seed production facility and will be involved in fundamental aspects of crop production. Interns and coops are assigned to mentors who outline tasks, assist in role and project assignment and project completion. All interns and co-ops will partake in an orientation session and end of assignment wrap up session held in St. Louis, MO.

Opportunities for this role include a Fall Co-op (May to December of 2019) or Summer Internship (May to August of 2019).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and counting product returns (bagging/re-bagging)

  • Reworking product

  • Quality sampling and testing

  • Field inspections

  • Pollination, detasseling, and flaming

Required Skills/Experiences:

  • Currently enrolled in a B.S program in Agronomy, Crop Science, Ag Business, Agriculture Technology Systems, or any Ag related degree

  • Valid driver’s license, as driving between local sites/fields is necessary

  • Candidates must have their own transportation to and from the worksite, as most of the work locations are situated in areas with no public transportation available

  • Ability to build relationships and work well in a team based environment

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Self-motivated with a strong results orientation. Demonstrated ability to manage a deadline while being able to focus on details

  • Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to organize (thoughts, data, etc)

  • Excellent computer skills related to data acquisition and record keeping

  • Demonstrated leadership ability. Desire to learn and willing to ask questions and able to adapt to change

Desired Skills/Experiences:

  • Use of a company pooled car may be preferred during the workday – if available at your work site. In order to be eligible to drive a company car, your driving record must meet guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers – MVR will be reviewed as part of pre-employment screening.
