Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Chemistry. This position is for the Danforth Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: * The Patti Lab seeks a Research/Lab Technician II to perform experiments and analysis of metabolic extracts using liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS).* PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Perform metabolite extraction, by known procedures and under the direction of the supervisor or graduate student colleagues in the lab. 2. Perform liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS), by known procedures and under the direction of the supervisor or graduate student colleagues in the lab. 3. Analyze metabolomic data, with input from the PI or colleagues. 4. Assist in manuscript preparation. 5. Conduct literature searches, as needed. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or a related area of study and one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling five years in a related field. * Ability to work independently and to work in a group environment. Preferred Qualifications * Ability to work on several projects in parallel and associated good time management skills. * Excellent oral and written communication skills to work closely with the Principal Investigator (Patti) and other laboratory researchers. * Working knowledge with data organization, analysis, and graphics software packages. * Experience with mass spectrometry techniques and cell culture methods. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $14.07 - $18.99 per hour.
