Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology. This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: This position assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials. Acute kidney injury causes high mortality via its secondary organ effects. Research studies will include experiments and assays in interorgan crosstalk in the kidney-heart-lung axis. State-of-the-art technologies, such as single cell/single nucleus RNAseq, FACSseq, proteomics (mass cytometry and mass spectrometry), drug treatments and mice will be used to discover and manipulate mediators of interorgan crosstalk. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment. 2. Assists with small animal procedures, generates single cell suspensions for 10x genomics/RNAseq applications, biochemical/cell biology assays (e.g. qPCR, western blot, ELISA, FACS) and histology/immunohistochemistry. 3. Manages mouse colony and breedings in collaboration with the PI. 4. Provides for data entry and current data files on research projects. Monitors data to ensure consistent quality. 5. Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions. 6. Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures. 7. Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling four years. Preferred Qualifications * Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators. * Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports. * Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $14.07 - $18.99 per hour.
