Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Newborn Medicine. This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: This position assists with research studies, experiments, preparation of material and documentation. Having recently submitted our paper on the definition of a novel cell death pathway, termed Lysoptosis, we now seek to determine the molecular mechanisms of this pathway using C. elegans. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Conducts research experiments and assays. 2. Evaluates research results, reporting findings and discussing project outcomes with staff involved. 3. Performs data entry and maintains data files on research. 4. Coordinates tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc. 5. Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions. 6. Coordinates research projects with other institutions and investigators. 7. Participates in developing hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it. 8. Assists with general supply/equipment orders, lab maintenance and cleaning. 9. Performs literature research on specified topics. Required Qualifications Equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with two to three years of experience in laboratory operations. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated ability to implement general laboratory procedures, conduct research, and record findings, with focus on pursuit of advanced education in field. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $15.46 - $20.88 per hour.
