Apex Life Sciences is looking for a QC Scientist II!

This is a contract role for a growing pharmaceutical company here in the St. Louis area!

This candidates main function will be to perform the raw material testing on company product.


  • Conducts routine testing on pharmaceutical raw material samples by internally developed and/or compendial test methods.

  • Executes validated test methods of pharmaceutical raw materials for impurities, identity, and purity, by spectroscopy and traditional quantitative analysis, utilizing spectroscopy, FTIR, Raman, UV/Vis, pH, Osmolality, TOC, and/or traditional wet chemistry testing.

  • Recognizes and reports out-of-specification or unexpected results and non-routine analytical and product problems.

  • Performs daily instrument calibrations / verification as required.

  • Contributes to writing of SOPs, work instructions, and job aides if needed.

  • Performs all duties in strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices, and Safety guidelines.


Associates or Bachelor’s degree in physical science or related filed, preferably in Chemistry or Biology.


A minimum of 2 years of experience required. Experience performing chemical tests utilizing compendia such as the USP, EP, and JP in a quality control laboratory is preferred.
