Monsanto Protein Technology Intern in ST. LOUIS, Missouri
The Regulatory Sciences Team is seeking a motivated Protein Technology Intern. This position will be located in Chesterfield, Missouri, reporting to our Protein Safety Lead and our Protein Production Lead.
Regulatory Sciences is a fast-paced, timeline-driven, team environment that requires researchers to contribute at the individual level on group-based projects. Within Regulatory Sciences, the Protein Technology team is responsible for a broad set of activities including the expression, purification and characterization of trait proteins in the company's products, as well generating protein safety data in support of global biotech product submissions. The intern will be exposed to cutting edge technology, develop transferred protein-based skills, have opportunities to work with innovative scientists and gain valuable industry experience.
The dates for this internship are May 14-August 3 of 2019.
Two impactful and timely projects are available for an internship candidate(s), which include:
Optimizing protein expression and purification methods using modern technologies.
Conducting proof of concept and method development experiments focused on plant protein digestion in support of new EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) guidance.
Candidates must be currently enrolled at a university within the US pursing a BS, MS or PhD program in a scientific field, including biology, biochemistry, agricultural sciences, molecular biology, or biotechnology
Sophomore standing or higher
Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0/4.0
Strong motivational, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, precise and actionable manner
Detail and results-orientated with the ability to work independently
Theoretical and practical knowledge of biochemistry
Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel
