Washington University of St. Louis Professional Rater III - Psychiatry - 51002 in St. Louis, Missouri

Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Psychiatry. This position is for the Medical School Campus. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the Principal Investigator in the daily management of the St. Louis site of a multi-site, collaborative research study, including hiring, training, and supervision of professional raters. Oversees data collection and management and maintains quality control. Position is responsible for managing the St. Louis site of a multi-center study on the genetics of alcoholism. This position will be responsible for hiring, training, and supervising staff to conduct psychiatric interviews, perform EEG brain scans, administer neuropsychological tests, and schedule blood draws. Position will be responsible for monitoring productivity, maintaining study procedures, submitting study modifications and continuing review documentation to the IRB, preparing reports for the principal investigator, purchasing supplies, and other study-related duties as needed. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Manages and supervises staff of this research project. Duties include, but are not limited to, hiring, training and supervising research staff. Ensures adherence to recruitment and study protocols, monthly productivity guidelines and completion of staff assignments. 2. Trains professional raters on how to administer informed consent, computerized, diagnostic psychiatric interviews, EEG brain scans and neuropsychological tests. 3. Maintains intra-site reliability by editing psychiatric interviews, consulting with project clinicians regarding editing and coding decisions, serving as the Washington University representative on multiple study-related conference calls, and providing consistent, ongoing feedback to research staff. 4. Manages multiple complex databases for tracking and recruiting research participants. 5. Monitors monthly productivity goals of research staff and provides detailed reports to Principal Investigator. 6. Harvests research data to multiple data management teams on a monthly basis. 7. Completes and maintains IRB documentation and approval, including consent forms, study instruments, modifications, continuing reviews, and data sharing. 8. Collaborates with personnel at other study sites to maintain adherence to assessment and recruitment procedures. Maintains written documentation of any changes to assessment and recruitment procedures and communicates these changes to research staff. 9. Assists Principal Investigator with preparation of reports and slides for meetings, publications, NIH progress reports and NIH grant applications. 10. Assists Principal Investigator in establishing and monitoring budgets for research projects. 11. Manages and oversees purchasing activities, including research study supplies, staff expenditures and research participant payments. 12. Performs data entry. Required Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree. * Two years of experience at a lead or supervisory level; a combination of work and education equaling six years may substitute for this requirement. Preferred Qualifications * Some master’s level coursework in psychology, social work, or a related field. * Five years of operational experience. * Research-related work experience and supervisory experience. * Detail-oriented. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact confidently and professionally with adults of all ages. * Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions. * Ability to work competently with PC based computer programs. * Strong computer skills and proficiency with various software packages (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint). * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Knowledge of diagnostic interviewing. * Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in decision making. * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. * Some knowledge of database management. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $48,131 - $60,174 annually.
