Job Type/Schedule
This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week.
Essential Functions
The group led by William Tolman in the Department of Chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis is seeking one or more post-doctoral research associate(s). The position is for one year, subject to extension upon mutual agreement, proper visa status, and satisfactory performance. The research projects will focus on the synthesis, characterization, and study of the reactivity of copper complexes relevant to postulated intermediates in copper enzymes. In addition to their independent research project(s), the post-doctoral research associate will also aid in the mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field is required for this position. Research expertise in one or more of the following areas is required for this position:
- Synthesis (organic, inorganic, organometallic), including under inert atmosphere using Schlenk and glovebox methods.
- Characterization of inorganic complexes by multiple spectroscopic and other techniques.
- Handling and studies of the reactivity of compounds at low temperatures.
- Mechanistic studies using kinetics and other methods.
Salary Range
Base pay commensurate with experience.
