This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.

Essential Functions

The neurosurgery research laboratory of Dr. Ammar H. Hawasli in the Department of Neurological Surgery at Washington University in Saint Louis has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate. The postdoc will work on a study to investigate the reorganization of brain architecture and networks as biomarkers for spinal disorders. The long-term goals of the study are to develop therapeutics targeting brain reorganization in patient suffering from spinal disorders such as spinal cord injury.

The candidate should have a strong background in a range of functional neuroimaging approaches (e.g. structural brain magnetic resonance imaging, functional MRI and diffusion MRI). Previous experience in brain imaging research, computer programming and the Linux operating system is expected. You will join a multidisciplinary neurosurgery research laboratory, which has adjunct affiliations with the Departments of Orthopedic Surgery, Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience, and collaborations with numerous high-level scientists at Washington University.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in the field of biomedical engineering, neuroscience or computer science.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in brain imaging research, computer programming, machine learning and the Linux operating system is expected.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement laboratory procedures, conduct research and records findings.

Salary Range

Base pay commensurate with experience.
