Job Summary

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager develops and implements the company-s environmental, health & safety program across The Gund Company to ensure a safe working environment and regulatory compliance. Utilizing our continuous improvement philosophy, the EHS Manager evaluates work practices and develops procedures to eliminate or control hazardous conditions that have the potential to impact our people, our trading partners, the community and the environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop and document the company-s environmental, health and safety (EHS) program in a manner that aligns with existing company documentation practices and meets regulatory compliance requirements

  • Lead company-wide EHS team including at least one person from each facility

  • Support the EHS teams at each plant and coordinate activities across plant EHS teams to insure best practice sharing and process standardization

  • Visit plants periodically to evaluate (audit) EHS practices, metrics and culture. Develop plans to assist plant leadership in closing performance gaps

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards for each country and community where our facilities operate

  • Develop, administer and provide the company-s EHS training

  • Report out to company leadership all EHS plans, issues, and performance metrics on a monthly or more frequent basis

Additional Job Functions

  • Oversee job hazard analyses for all manufacturing processes and positions

  • Participate in investigation of workplace injuries and near miss incidents

  • Assist with worker-s compensation claims process as necessary

  • Coordinate workers compensation light duty and return to work with employees, Human Resources and department Supervisors

  • Performs other related duties or projects as required and assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and computer literacy is required

  • The ability to write professional reports, business correspondence, and technical procedures is required

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel is required.

  • Ability to travel up to 25% is required

  • Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred

Other Requirements

  • A Bachelor-s degree (BA/BS) in safety, construction, environmental sciences, or industrial engineering

  • At least 5 years of safety experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required

  • OSHA 30 certificate is required

  • CSP, ASP, CHST or other safety related designation is preferred

  • Current First Aid AED/CPR certification is strongly preferred

  • Experience working with Canadian and Mexican safety regulations is preferred

  • Lean/Six Sigma experience is preferred

Work Environment

The work environment is typical of most office environments; occasionally, the position will be required to be on the manufacturing floor. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
