Director, Learning & Development

Position Summary:

Director, Learning and Development is responsible for providing professional training and best practices to create an Associate-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality of service, high productivity, accountability, and the ongoing development of a superior workforce. This position manages and conducts the training of our Associates and partners and will also serve as a knowledgeable resource to other business units regarding clients, process, best practices and product usage. Key responsibilities of this position include attaining a solid working knowledge of LMS systems.

Job Description:

  • Consult with department and client company managers to assess training needs; making recommendations regarding training format, delivery, schedule, and any other training aspect relevant to the project.

  • Manage, coordinate, and develop training programs based on business initiatives/priorities.

  • Review, evaluate, and modify existing programs and make recommendations for appropriate changes.

  • Design and deliver training material in various formats; platform, print, CBT, WBT, DVD, Video, etc.

  • Design, schedule, and deliver orientation for all new hires

  • Implement and maintain an electronic training records system (spreadsheets, LMS, training files).

  • Manage, coordinate and conduct all corporate sponsored training initiatives.

  • Develop, maintain, and distribute training aids such as instructional material, handouts, evaluation forms, and visual aids; ensure set-up of audiovisual equipment and conduct presentations as necessary.

  • Advise Associates of changes to policies and/or procedures relevant to training material.

  • Evaluate and manage external vendors and products for the Training department

  • Manage training and development budget; monitor cost and prepare invoice for processing.

  • Collaborates with Sales, Marketing, and relevant Management Services to develop the Sales Training strategy which supports the delivery of company priorities and meets operational requirements, ensuring that the best outcome is delivered from the resources available.

  • Develop training solutions to meet company KPI’s; customizing programs for key departments like Customer Service, Sales, Operations.

  • Develop company sales training, influencing the sales style and approach throughout the company; including telephone sales, business consultation skills, solution-based selling, negotiation, closing, etc.

  • Work with the management team to ensure appropriate team development; develop concurrent training, coaching, train-the-trainer, etc.

Experience, Qualifications, and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Five (5) + years of training experience in general training; design and delivery of classroom training. A minimum of 3 years of experience in design and delivery of classroom training.

  • Technical Proficiency- Candidates must be able to articulate technical concepts to both business and technical users, and evoke confidence in their products; proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Web, etc.

  • Experience with both Windows and Mac platforms.

  • Experience with e-learning authoring/screen recording software.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office including PowerPoint and Word.

  • Demonstrated history of delivering IT training programs and evaluations with the ability to manage various types of classroom situations and learning styles.

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software applications.

  • Superior organizational skills with strong follow-through and attention to details.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to clearly communicate complex instructions to audiences of varying skill levels.

  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.

  • Experience in recommending training methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining optimum training results
