Job Type/Schedule This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. Department Name/Job Location This position is in the Department of Neurology/Dementia and Aging. Essential Functions POSITION SUMMARY: Dr. Randall Bateman’s lab investigates the causes, and future diagnosis and treatments of Alzheimer’s disease utilizing a wide variety of assays and techniques from basic applications, such as quantitative measurement of stable-isotope labeled peptides to clinical translational studies in diagnostic and therapeutic biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease. We have several ongoing clinical studies, including the Study to Evaluate Blood and Imaging Related to Dementia (SEABIRD) to validate a blood test for Alzheimer’s disease in a large community- and clinic-based cohort. This position is a member of a multidisciplinary research team and will provide assistance to the team across multiple duties including, but not limited to, collecting and processing biological samples; recruiting, screening and scheduling participants; entering and tracking data and general study processes; collecting cognitive and other data. This position interacts with participants who have mild to moderate dementia and healthy control volunteers. This position includes extensive interaction with diverse participants, study sponsors, research staff and investigator. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Contributes to the coordination of research studies, recruitment of study participants and performs study visits and obtains informed consent. 2. Collects data from study participants, medical records, interviews, questionnaires, diagnostic tests and other sources; performs basic evaluation and interpretation of collected data and prepares appropriate reports and documentation as necessary; prepares and distributes study packets and information; schedules initial and follow up visits. 3. Coordinates and completes handling and processing of specimens, including blood, plasma and CSF in collaboration with lab staff to prepare for sample processing. 4. Coordinators and completes collection of source information, case reporting, and participant payments. 5. Performs other duties as assigned by research team. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent high school certification plus two years of administrative or research experience, preferably in a medical environment; Associate degree or two years of college may substitute for experience. Preferred Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in a related field. * Knowledge of clinical research study protocols. * Expert clinical skills. * Self-starter. * Empathetic. * Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to work independently while maintaining strict protocol adherence. * Ability to manage multiple assignments. Salary Range The hiring range for this position is $17.58 - $21.98 per hour.
