This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week.

Essential Functions


The Rudra lab works on developing nanoscale peptide and protein biomaterials for applications in immunology and vaccine development. The lab also strives to understand how material properties impact immune clearance and this position studies the effect of material chirality on uptake and antigen presentation by macrophages and dendritic cells.


  1. Organizes the lab and orders materials and supplies.
  2. Assures compliance with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  3. Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
  4. Assists with manuscript and grant preparation through data collection and analysis.
  5. Performs western blotting, PCR, ELISA reactions, and multicolor flow cytometry. Maintains cell lines and ensures sterility. Maintains animals and performs small animal procedures.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, immunology, veterinary sciences or a related field and 1 year of laboratory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 5 years required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, communicate with laboratory staff and investigators, and maintain complete and organized records/reports.
  • Basic wet lab skills, knowledge of biological lab instruments.
  • General computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheets and e-mail; must be able to use basic computer programs and to organize and maintain electronic laboratory records.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS degree in microbiology, immunology, veterinary sciences or a related field.
  • Prior immunology/vaccinology laboratory experience preferred
  • Experience with small animal procedures, familiarity with Western blotting, PCR, cell culture, and other molecular biology assays.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct multicolor flow cytometry.
  • Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
  • Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.

Salary Range

The hiring range for this position is $14.07 - $18.99 per hour.
