Senior Mechanical Engineer Senior R&D Engineer Mechanical Engineer R&D Engineer

Duties:

Research, develop, design, and evaluate materials, mechanical components, assemblies, processes for innovative medical devices

Conduct feasibility studies and build prototypes to verify capability and functionality

Generate and document intellectual property

Help build time lines and cost estimates for prototype and product development

Maintain traceable documentation throughout all phases of development

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, materials science or related technical field

5-plus years of work experience in medical device industry

Experience with thermoplastic elastomers and thermoset polymers

Experience with electromechanical actuators, controls hardware and firmware

Working knowledge of quality systems, regulations and standards in medical device design and manufacturing

Experience with SolidWorks

Preferred:

Master's degree in one of the above fields with emphasis on innovative materials

Previous experience in leading a team of engineers and technicians through concept, design and qualification phases

Hands-on experience with additive manufacturing, 3D printing, extrusion, reflowing, injection molding, textiles and fiber-reinforced composites

Experience with adhesives, bonding and hybrid assembly methods for metals and polymers

Proficiency in risk analysis, FMEA, design requirements specification, verification and validation, project management
