Allied Reliability Group Process Engineer in Saint Louis, Missouri

Energetic, passionate process expert who uses effective technical problem-solving methods while maintaining full compliance with ISO standards and consistently handling customer concerns. This position will report directly to the Technical Manager. Participates in interplant, cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical problems and customer issues. Acts as a technical resource for process engineering methods and tools and their applications across different company functions. Interacts with sites to resolve process issues and drive process improvements.


The process engineer is responsible for supporting their respective department in their production of molten aluminum to be delivered to the twin roll casters (Melting); the production of flat rolled cast aluminum (Casting & Rolling); the finishing of flat rolled Cast Coils either slit, leveled or coated.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Organizational expert and catalyst for continuous improvement: propose, sponsor and lead projects that will improve product performance, reduce costs, improve yields, or reduce cycle time through using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools such as DMAIC, SPC, Design of Experiments, and Failure mode effect analysis (FMEA).

  • Implementing practices to monitor and ensure the effectiveness of calibration, metrology, testing and inspection processes and systems.

  • Uses statistical analysis methods to effectively analyze process concerns and performance gaps.

  • Ensures that Control Plans are being utilized effectively to create process stability and control.

  • Monitors process performance to ensure that stated objectives are being met in terms of safety, first pass quality and productivity.

Description of the responsibilities of the position:

  • Establish control plans and update the work instructions in conjunction with the Quality Department and Production.

  • Participate in and conduct Lean events.

  • Establish and develop process maps.

  • Establish critical performance criteria.

  • Establish systems to document process parameters and data.

  • Update work instructions to conform to the Quality Management System.

  • Training supervisors in the quality systems, control plans and procedures.

  • Develop training materials and conduct training.

  • Conduct process audits, develop corrective actions and train supervisors to implement corrective actions.

  • Assist supervisors to identify weaknesses and developmental areas of operators and assist in correcting these.

  • Promote safety and corporate culture.

  • Adhere to and promote safety procedures.

  • Able to participate and promote strong team values.

  • Communicate to all teams at all levels in the company.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Metallurgical or Materials Engineering).

  • At least 3 years of experience in technical problem solving or customer communication in a manufacturing environment

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to independently prepare and deliver presentations and training materials.

  • Ability to interface with the organization, customers, and suppliers acting as a coach and trainer.

  • Strong organizational and project management leadership abilities; can coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing
