GEHA Talent Development and Learning Specialist in Lee’s Summit, Missouri

The Talent Development and Learning Specialist provides direct support for key programs and processes within the talent lifecycle including performance management, employee engagement, employee learning, leadership development, succession planning and organization culture. This position has a client-focused mindset and builds valuable relationships and partnerships. The Talent Development and Learning Specialist acts as a key contact for the HRBPs, managers and employees to address program and technology questions and requests in a timely and professional manner. This role provides direct support to the organizational development and learning roles.


Talent and Learning Development Consultation and Delivery

  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with clients and customers, providing solutions for immediate and long-term talent management and learning needs. Maintaining customer satisfaction and delivering exceptional client services on a consistent basis.

  • Drive change, suggesting new and creative approaches to deliver content to learners.

  • Develop and employ tools and technologies appropriate for a variety of learning delivery methods.

  • Assist in developing and proofing learning materials, digital learnings, and self-paced training courses.

  • Assist with the development of supporting tools and resources for leadership development programs and help to coordinate and support delivery of these programs.

  • Serve as a primary facilitator and producer for learning programs, backup facilitator and producer for talent and leadership sessions.

  • Facilitate corporate training programs.

Talent and Learning Program Support

  • Provide project and process management support for a variety of talent management and learning programs including performance management, engagement, employee learning and culture initiatives.

  • Identify and assess opportunities to eliminate, streamline and further leverage Workday to automate HR programs and processes to drive the talent management strategy and foster two-way communication between employees, managers, leaders and HR.

  • Generate reports to leverage data and analytics to support talent-based decisions and measure the effectiveness of programs.

Talent and Learning Knowledge Management

  • Monitor technology enhancements and improvements offered within talent systems and share relevant knowledge to support program development and enhancements.

  • Research and provide benchmark data to inform talent programs and help align to industry best practices.

  • Assist with developing and updating the talent management tools, and resources to ensure consistency, accuracy, timely and cost-effective delivery. These may include job aids, needs assessments, training materials, surveys, metrics, and intranet document management.

  • Act as team liaison-point to connect the dots across Talent Development and OD efforts.


  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience. 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources supporting processes and programs with associated technology in one or more of the following: Performance Management, Succession Planning, Talent Assessment, Leadership & Employee Development, Employee Engagement, Culture or other related HR disciplines.

  • Two years of recent onsite and virtual experience educating or training individuals and/or groups in a corporate environment

  • Competent at multi-tasking and managing demands across numerous assignments and projects, both department and enterprise-wide

  • Collaborative team player who is focused on building relationships to achieve collective results

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Willingness to be adaptable, flexible and demonstrate the ability to change in support of business objectives.

  • Comfortable working in an environment in which businesses processes, tools, deadlines etc. are continually evolving.

  • Self-motivated and driven desire to produce high quality results

  • Strong critical-thinking, analytical and problem solving skills


  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

  • Workday experience
