Key Responsibilities:

  • This scientist will perform a variety of advanced analytical techniques, processes, and procedures to support both production and research and development on a wide variety of materials including inorganics (metals and ceramics), organics, polymers and composites

  • The primary responsibility of this position is to support the missions of the Electron Optics group through daily operation, upkeep, and development of advanced experimental methods, utilizing advanced surface science, bulk chemistry, and materials characterization instrumentation in support of quality control, failure analysis, contamination identification, and material development Furthermore, this scientist should be able to leverage analytical techniques to provide unique solutions to complex challenges

You Must Have:

  • US citizenship in order to obtain and maintain US Dept of Energy "Q" level security clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry or Applied Physics from an accredited program

  • Minimum four (4) years or more experience with surface science techniques (such as SEM, XPS, AES, Raman, and Optical Microscopy)

We Value:

  • Extensive surface analysis testing experience at the graduate or postgraduate level

  • Strong Leadership ability and ability to actively contribute to teams or work independently

  • Experience in the preparation and presentation of analytical information to all levels of stakeholders Experience using MS Office Suite desktop applications, such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • IT skills beyond basic MS Office skills involving sophisticated analytical instrument software, networking, and other computer systems used

  • Able to work independently with little to no supervision on all job responsibilities

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and responsibilities concurrently

  • Familiar with Six Sigma tools
