AECOM Environmental Technician III in Kansas City, Missouri

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Environmental Technician for employment for a Lincoln, NE Wastewater Treatment Operation and Environmental Technical support role. Position is slated to be full-time with a schedule of 40 hours per week.

Operation of the WWTP includes the following:

  • Operating the WWTP such that it meets the required discharge limits during routine influent and treatment conditions outlined in the Dsicharge Permit.

  • Operating the WWTP in a safe and professional manner, including maintaining required training and certifications included e-RAILSAFE, Contractor Orientation, Roadway Worker Protection, and state requirements for private WWTP operators (including Class 1 Operators license).

  • Confirming proper operation and testing of the WWTP after repairs, maintenance or cleaning.

  • Participating in client's Wastewater Best Way program, Monthly WWTP Operator calls, and annual WW Conference.

  • Perform all inspections utilizing the EAM system.

  • Perform routine cleaning of the IAF and API OWS associated with operations of the WWTP.

  • Coordinating and/or assisting with WWTP repairs, maintenance, and cleaning utilizing the EAM system.

  • Read, understand, and follow published test methods and standard operating procedures, including company and client specific programs

  • Produce accurate and complete documentation of operation, inspections and compliance according to standard operating procedures

  • Show initiative in maintaining and repairing equipment, ordering and organizing supplies and maintaining work area

  • Effectively work both independently and in a team environment

  • Effectively communicate with site representatives regarding schedules and task requirements

  • Participate in other environment-related projects and tasks as required (Compliance and Remediation), and support Wastewater Treatment Operations at other client facilities under direction of staff as necessary.

  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, practices and procedures; receives and maintains required safety training - OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER, annual 8-hr refresher; client-specific training and regulatory specific training will be required

Minimum Requirements

  • High School and 4+ years of experience with environmental evaluations or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education

  • Valid State Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some understanding of risk assessment methodology

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Biology or related field (e.g., environmental science, ecology, toxicology)

  • Master's degree in Science in lieu of 2 years of experience is acceptable

  • Experience managing tasks and managing field teams

  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative environment

  • Knowledge of environmental data collection, investigation, and interpretation

  • Detail-oriented, thorough, and can effectively manage time

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willing to travel for up to a week at a time

  • Position requires field work, which involves work in rugged terrain and inclement weather conditions

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Experience operating, maintaining, and trailering boats (14' - 20')

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems

  • 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training certificate

  • Working knowledge of statistical software (e.g., ProUCL, R, etc.)
