The Life Time Academy Instructor is responsible for providing quality instruction to students online and/or in a classroom or laboratory setting. The Academy Instructor will also ensure student satisfaction and success while aligning with program objectives, which include student retention and program promotion. It is a position that provides professional autonomy and growth, as well as career diversity for those with a passion for education. It requires an entrepreneurial spirit and someone committed to the details of what it takes to be a great teacher.

Responsibilities

  • Teach from approved curriculum and augment daily practicum class/labs to assure it is meeting learning objectives, maintains student engagement, and helps students meet satisfactory academic progress requirements

  • Administrative duties can include, but not limited to attendance tracking, assessment and coursework grading, forum posts, faculty conference calls, holding student office hours, timely student communication and follow up, student roster management, and social media activity to promote and support the Academy

  • Respond to students via LMS within 24 hours and via other contact within 48 hours. Grading completed within 4-days of due date.

  • Maintain expertise in subject area and creatively engage students in the curriculum

  • Proactively participates in student retention initiatives by providing regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students and the school concerning academics, behavior, attendance, and performance

  • Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process

  • Completes professional development and in-service activities in accordance with school standards

  • Complete CEC's to maintain required certification

  • Instruct students in club safety procedures as applicable

  • Reserve education center and studio space accordingly for instruction

  • Stay up-to-date with all student policies and instructor SOP expectations

Schedule

  • Can vary based on the program being offered.

  • Master PFT Program

  • Weekly Lab Class Times: Tuesday 5:00 8:30P. Office hour 5-5:30P, 8-8:30P (includes Q&A office time for students)(32 sessions) Premier/Elite PFT Course

  • 1x per month lab: Saturday's 1-5P. This lab intensive is offered 1x per month (4 sessions) to support the student's online classwork and the calendar is posted online 1 hour/wk for student and/or lab administration, LMS activity, prep, attendance checking and student feedback, online instructor interaction

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Life Time employee for 1+ year

  • Bachelor degree in Exercise Science or similar field, or equivalent combination of education and industry relevant experience

  • Masters Degree preferred

  • Experience working in an e-learning environment

  • At least 3 years experience in the trade or specialty that is being taught

  • At least 1 year of teaching or facilitation experience

  • Experience working with adult learners

Licenses / Certifications/ Registrations

  • NASM CPT, CES & PES required for Professional Fitness Trainer program
